ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Liverpool entered the match with a flawless record in this season’s Champions League but saw their winning streak broken at the hands of PSV. The Dutch champions came from behind to secure a 3-2 victory, marking Arne Slot’s first European defeat as Liverpool manager.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Liverpool’s chances of a late comeback were further diminished when young defender Amara Nallo received a red card just minutes after coming on for his debut. Against a depleted side, PSV players chose to showboat by keeping possession with flashy passes, including backheels and no-look moves, which entertained the home fans but irked their manager.

WHAT BOSZ SAID
"I thought it was terrible. I’m really annoyed,” Bosz told reporters after the game.
“It's misplaced, they shouldn't do that. It was a kind of rondo they played there, with a back heel and a no-look pass. If I had been in that position, I would have sawed them off below the knees. You just shouldn't do that.
"I don't think it's respectful to the opponent. I haven't spoken to them about it yet, but I will. I do like entertaining the crowd but in a different way. I think we would have entertained the crowd before without all that craziness.”

DID YOU KNOW?
PSV’s victory means they will advance to the play-off round under the new Champions League format, but Bosz is wary of facing familiar opposition as they could find themselves drawn against fellow Dutch side Feyenoord or Italian giants Juventus.
"I don't like that,” he said. "When you play in Europe you hope to meet an exotic club, like Liverpool. You prefer not to play against a team from your own country and we've already had Juventus."
